How can I get a painting and decorating estimate?
Visit my "contact us" page and fill out the query form. Feel free to call or email me anytime to learn more about my painting and decorating services. I can visit your property at a later date to provide a full, written estimate on the work you need.
How much painting and decorating experience do you have? How long have you been in this trade?
My career as a painter and decorator started in 1980. Giving me over 40 years of experience to date.
Are there any hidden extras?
No - my quotes include all costs involved. I can update my quote as necessary if you need additional services.
Do painting and decorating quotes include materials?
My quotes don't include material costs. I can offer a rough estimate of what materials will cost and keep the receipts when purchasing them.
How long will the painting and decorating work take?
Some jobs will last longer than others. I include rough timescales with all written quotes. The size of the job and the finish you want to achieve will have the greatest effect on time.
Is the work guaranteed?
All my work is guaranteed for up to one year.
Do the carpets need removing?
No - I bring protective dustsheets and polythene sheets to every job. These will protect your carpets and soft furnishings while I carry out my work.
What do I need to do before painting or decorating starts?
Clearing the area you want to decorate and removing furniture is the best thing you can do. This helps me get to work faster. Of course, this isn't always possible, and I am happy to work around any permanent fixtures that can't be moved.
Is your painting and decorating work insured?
Yes - I am covered by public liability insurance for your peace of mind.
Who cleans up afterwards?
As a professional painter and decorator, I will leave your property spotless once the work is done.
What is stucco, and should I choose to add it?
Stucco is a durable finish often applied to the outside of a property. Painting it can take longer, but it will last a lifetime once I have finished. It can even increase the value of your property.
When can I use the room Once the painting or decoration is complete?
This depends on the paint, as some paints dry faster than others. In most cases, a room can take up to 2 weeks to fully dry. So it is best to be careful until then.
Will the decor clash with the carpet in the living room?
Colour matching is another speciality I'm happy to offer struggling clients.
Can we use a particular type of paint in our bathroom?
If you're struggling with your paint choice, I'm happy to offer professional advice.
Will you protect our furniture and carpets while you are working?
I will use PVC and clean cotton sheets to protect any delicate furniture or fittings. If there are any delicate valuables you want to protect, it is best to remove them if possible. Clients can tell me which areas of their homes are the most fragile, and I will ensure they remain safe.
Will you take responsibility for keeping our house secured each day?
Your property will be safe while you are away. With my 40 years of experience working in domestic homes, I have a great reputation as a trusted painter and decorator.
What is the difference between a flat, high gloss, satin, and eggshell finish?
These terms refer to the amount of light the finished paint will reflect. Essentially, how shiny the paint will look. Here are some of the benefits of each:
Flat: uniform look across surfaces, can be difficult to clean, best for low-traffic areas.
High Gloss: stain-resistant and easier to clean than flat, will show damage more clearly.
Satin: sits between eggshell and gloss, stain-resistant and easy to clean, good for high-traffic areas, shows damage more clearly.
Eggshell: the most reflective, gives a lustrous appearance, very high stain resistance, ideal for high-traffic areas.
